yes, at THAT point, you will be doing more damage per target than a straight Mind Sear. If you have 10 mobs and you spend time casting VT on each of the mobs, over the course of 15 seconds, you'll have put up 10 completely non-hasted VT's and start actually doing damage to all of them. Still, since VT usually is the only spell to cast on every mob (and then switching to Mind Sear) I tend to just tab through everything, put one VT on everything, Mind Sear away and while MSing I click the target that I put the first VT on to refresh it if necessary.Ī) taking this out of context (which wouldn't surprise me, given your history).ī) misreading it, because I mean multi-DoT without MS. It's enough to keep track of everything that's going on when mutli-DoTing but it doesn't clutter up my screen with useless information since the DoT anchor is far enough away to not bother me. All other targets then have their DoTs displayed there. This also allows me to safely move the DoT anchor to the left of my screen, out of the way of anything important. So I have a single list for the MB cooldown and all the DoTs which is quite awesome. For the DoT anchor I have a custom rule to move *target* to the cooldown timer, meaning that all DoTs that would display on my current target will display in my cooldowns anchor (right below my feet) instead. I got DoTimer with the cooldowns anchor directly below my feet. It is never worth to cast DP (obviously, one target only but some people tend to forget that) and SW:P isn't quite as efficient as VT so there is no harm in completely skipping that on AoE either (unless you are fighting 2 mobs). In situations with about 3-4 it is always worth to cast VT (if they live through the whole duration) over MS. VT gives you much higer DPCT than Mind Sear unless you are fighting extremely many mobs. Multi-dotting will make you lose a LOT of time that you could have spent just straight mind searing. I will admit that I can reach up to 12k dps AOEing 5-8 mobs with mind sear alone.īut I'm talking about situations like in lady death whisper where you will have at most 2-3 mobs close to each other in which mind searing would be less dps then multi doting. The usefullness of mind sear depends on how many targets, how close they are, and how long they will live. This works well only if your tanks are holding the mobs close together and there are no mobs straggling like casters. Tab target around while mind searing (you'll have a few seconds to find one)įind a Mob Without DoTs, cast VT + SWP then MS However, you can make it slightly more effective by doing what I do. However, I have a very hard time watching these dots sometimes especially in 25 mans when I have to watch out for other things, in addition to keeping my dots up on the boss.Īre there any addons that can help me watch DOTs on up to four targets at a time without me actually targeting those enemies? I've noticed that when I am fighting 2-4 mobs with considerably large health pools in a raid multi dotting yeilds the most dps.
